Something to Read to the Grandkids (someday!)

For me, this blog is a love letter to my children.  Yes, its nice to see so many loyal readers stopping by to see what’s new at Homemade Mothering, but first and foremost this blog as a way to document my young family’s milestones and memories so we can look back fondly and remember this special time in our lives.

I also hope it serves as a reference for Evie, Mack and Vivian when they are grown.  If they want my recipe for Nutella french toast or zucchini banana bread or homemade laundry detergent, they can search this site.  Whenever I make something they enjoy I try to post it here.

When I am old and gray, this blog will remind me of the blissfully hectic early years with my young family.  I hope and pray to share these memories with a squad of grandchildren as full of love and joy as their parents.

Should the Internet implode, I wanted to find a way to save all my writing.  Fortunately, I found Blog 2 Print, a service that lets me print my posts into a beautiful hardcover book. I’ve made it a goal to print a book for every year, and I now have three perfectly printed and bound blog books resting on my desk.  Whenever I read through them I can’t help but smile: I am proud of this work.

I can’t say enough good things about Blog 2 Print.  The site is easy to use (it quickly pulls the posts from my site, so I don’t have to do much of anything), and the shipping is fast.  Plus, the book and paper quality are impressive and substantial.

Something to read to the grandkids some day!

  1. I have been meaning to do this for year, and you are inspiring me to finally “click to print!” I couldn’t agree more about blog-as-love-letter to kids and hopefully future grandkids as well. I especially hope they might find comfort in what I write about the hard days of parenting, so that they know they are not alone in however they are feeling when faced with the needs of little ones.

Hey there! I agree… I write for my kids first, and if anyone else enjoys it along the way – then bonus! 🙂 I also print mine with the same intention!! I love it! I’ve been using The Cutest Blog on the Block. I’ll have to check out your recommendation. Thank you!! Myah
