One of my absolute favorite holiday traditions is sending and receiving holiday cards. There is something quaint and special about sending real cards through the real mail. Putting pen to paper requires more thought and time than a quick email or Facebook post, and I always get excited to open a mailbox full of something other than bills and junk mail.
Every year we are fortunate to make new friends, so every year our Christmas card list grows. This year we mailed 150 cards to those we love both near and far. I always take the time to write a special note to every recipient, and I like hand-writing the addresses because it gives me an extra minute to reflect on my relationship with the addressee.
This year I enlisted Evie’s help with the stamping. She could not have been more thrilled with this task. Such a helpful big girl.
Holiday cards certainly are not an eco-friendly tradition. All that paper! Eek! I order from My Good Greetings because the cards are made from 100% recycled paper. And, we’re always extra sure to recycle the cards at the end of the season, although I know plenty of people have fun ways of repurposing them.
