Homemade All-Purpose Spray

With the exception of dishwasher soap and dish soap, I haven’t bought conventional cleaning products in years. I make homemade laundry detergent, and I rely on vinegar and elbow grease to clean just about everything else.  Choosing the homemade route saves us (lots of) money and reduces the amount of toxins washed down the drain.  But, perhaps the best part about homemade cleaning products is that they are safer for my family.  No harsh fragrances or caustic ingredients; my homemade cleaning products are no more dangerous than salad dressing.

Today while Vivian napped I asked Mack to help me clean the house.  If he’s not busy he’s causing trouble, and if I wanted to get the job done I knew he’d have to be a part of it.  I gave him a bottle of my homemade all-purpose spray and an old cloth diaper and for 30 minutes he went crazy…

Homemade All-Purpose Spray

2 parts vinegar

3 parts water

a few squirts dish soap

Pour vinegar and water into a spray bottle. Add dish soap.  Shake gently.  Use on floors, tables, counters, stainless steel appliances, etc…

Dish soap! That’s the trick! I never thought that the vinegar/water solution worked to get things really clean. I’ll remember about the dish soap! Thanks, Maureen! My little guy loves to help me do chores, too. This will be perfect.

I love this stuff!! I made a batch a few months ago and just ran out today, so here I am, back for the recipe to make a new one. Great idea Maureen!

I’m a big fan of DIY and all purpose cleaners. Thanks for sharing this one <3

  4. Does the dish soap not leave residue? I use vinegar and water with a few drops of a nice-smelling essential oil, but I’ve never added dish soap. I’ll have to try that if it doesn’t leave soapy residue. Cute pictures of your little helper! 🙂
