Ginger and Tumeric Latte with Almond Milk

I hate coffee. I genuinely think the taste is gross, and caffeine leaves me jittery and thirsty. I start most mornings with a giant glass of ice water, but when I want to share in the universal ritual of a warm drink in the wee hours I often make a matcha latte. But, lately I’ve branched out a bit with my newest fascination: Ginger and Tumeric Latte.

This drink is calming and soothing. The earthy notes from the tumeric balance the ginger’s spiciness, and the coconut oil adds a touch of decadence. I feel good after I drink this – must be the anti-inflammatory effects of the roots. ┬áSuch a comforting way to start another busy day.

Ginger and Tumeric Latte (adapted from

1/4 teaspoon ground tumeric

1″ knob of fresh ginger, peeled

sugar, to taste

1 1/2 cups almond milk (I much prefer homemade almond milk)

1 tablespoon coconut oil

In a high power blender, combine tumeric, ginger, sugar and almond milk. Pour into a large mug and heat for 2 minutes in the microwave. Stir in coconut oil. Enjoy!
