Ever since Evie was a baby, dancing has always been one of our favorite activities to do together. She would giggle and hold on to my face, her bright eyes smiling. Now that she is big enough to dance on her own she pirouettes and prances proudly. Fortunately, my sweet baby Mack seems to enjoy our little dance parties, too, so I have a new dance partner. Occasionally Evelyn will want me to hold her, so I scoop her up and happily dance with a little one on each arm.
Tonight while we danced to Michael Buble’s “Everything” I had a flash-forward to Mack’s wedding. I thought about our mother-son dance at the reception, and I couldn’t help by cry a little bit as I held him extra close. He’ll be big and strong and grown some day much too soon.
These are the moments I will remember forever. The way Mack’s soft baby hair feels against my cheek, Evie miming my dance moves while coming up with a few of her own, Mack’s silent laughs whenever I dip him. Tonight, it didn’t matter that I wasn’t wearing any make-up, or that my jeans had a new hole in the knee, or that I hadn’t washed my hair in a few days. Our life is simple, and I want to teach my children to find the joy in the everyday.

Such a sweet video of you and your babies! I clicked over from Tiffany's blog, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out you're also from Chicago. I actually just read through your archives back to the beginning of the year, and plan to come back again. 🙂
So glad you stopped by, ChiTown Girl! I'll share your blogs with my teacher friends 🙂
Loved watching the dance and brought back memories of the boys when they were little! Enjoy every moment because it goes by in a heartbeat!
