Thanksgiving is here, and we’re all so excited! Evie has been learning about the holiday in school, and everyday I try to encourage gratitude in their little hearts. Its nice to have a day just about being thankful.
To counteract the delightful calorie overload headed our way this evening, I mixed up a healthy breakfast smoothie for the kids and myself this morning. Loaded with organic berries and scented with cocoa, it was a real treat on this sunshiny morning.
Mack drank his whole shake in less time that it will take me to write this quick post. He LOVES chocolate, so this breakfast probably reminded him of dessert.
Evie, in all her bed-headed glory, loved the shake, too!
This was a great breakfast for little Vivian, too. I poured some into a bowl before adding the honey and cocoa to the blender. She couldn’t have been more delighted to share a breakfast with her big brother and big sister.
Cocoa Berry Smoothie (serves 1 big and 2 littles)
2 cups almond milk
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup chopped strawberries
handful baby spinach leaves
1/8 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
a few heaping spoonfuls honey
crushed ice
Combine ingredients in a blender and whir until its smooth.
