We woke up this morning to snow! Lots of it! Along with the snow came some chilly temperatures, so we spent most of the day inside. By 11 am Evelyn was getting antsy. I knew I should keep her busy or else she would A) beg for cartoons, B) wake her napping brother, or C) whine incessantly.
As I recently mentioned, I am not a very crafty person. But, today Evelyn and I were in need of a quiet activity so I had to get creative – and fast. I had some festive scrapbook paper collecting dust in a drawer, so I cut it into strips. Evelyn glued one end of each strip, and we looped them together to create a pretty garland for our Christmas tree.
We also wrapped and decorated Christmas presents for her cousins using the blank side of a Trader Joe’s paper bag. The bag’s design had charming snowflakes and seasonal wording, so we used leftover paper scraps and twine to make simple ornaments that will also serve as gift tags come Christmas Eve. Evelyn loved hanging the ornaments on the tree.
These simple crafts demanded neither special skills nor a special trip to the store. Just right for an uncrafty girl like me!

I love your ornaments! This year my girls and I are mostly doing handmade presents for our friends, and paper bags have been one of our staples.
You have a wonderful blog! Gorgeous photos and a beautiful message. I'll be checking in often!
