Ok, so I am a fan of Burt’s Bees products (even though they were bought by Clorox and I am so not a fan of anything related to chlorine bleach!), and I just found this handy guide courtesy of our friends at that brand:
Burt’s Bees Guide to Reading Your Labels: Synthetic Ingredients We Always Avoid:
Cleansers
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
Sodium Laureth Sulfate
Sodium Myreth Sulfate
Petrochemicals
Petrolatum
Mineral Oil
Paraffin
Preservatives
Parabens (all of them)
DMDM Hydantoin
Chemical Sunscreens
Oxybenzone
Avobenzone
Octinoxate
Moisturizers
Propylene Glycol
Butylene Glycol
Polyisobutene
I’ll go into more detail on what these chemicals are and why they are bad for you in a future post, but in the mean time please take a copy of the above list with you when you shop for common personal care products.

Could you post a link to the guide? Would be handy to be able to send to folks…
<going to give this to my wife's sister-in-law … new mommy, and very in-tune with environmental/chemical issues when it comes to the baby>
I can’t find a link on the Burt’s Bees site (I found the guide in a magazine ad). If I come across an on-line link I’ll be sure to post it ASAP!!
I would love to hear more about this. Mainly because my husband sells many of these products. I get to hear his side, but haven't seen any succinct information on the other side.
