The Merry Magic of Christmas

Ok so I know there is a lot of terrible, awful, no-good stuff going on in the world, but something about the Christmas season reminds me that all hope isn’t lost (yet). Sure, we have awful politicians improperly managing natural disasters and man-made threats, but most of the everyday people I know are good and kind and considerate. I wish my friends would run for political office!

Here are some little magical Christmas things that just might make you feel like there are actually some decent folks left on this lovely planet of ours. I can’t help but smile when I think of the people who create content that does nothing more than dazzle and ignite little imaginations. Thank you, random people of the universe, who want to make kids happy!

1. Santa’s Magic Key book

We have a fireplace in our house, but it is gas and therefore we don’t have a chimney. When we moved in five years ago it took Evie and Mack about two minutes to start questioning how Santa would find his way in. I wish I had this book back then! My mom gave it to us this year and ALL my kids – including Evie and Mack who no longer believe in the Big Man (sniff, sniff) – love it!

Think of it as a more charming and less stressful Elf on the Shelf.

2. Santa Hotline: 951-262-3062

I have no idea who is behind this phone number, but gosh is it cute. Kids can listen to Santa and leave him a voicemail. NOTHING IN THE WORLD IS CUTER THAN AN EXCITED 3-YEAR-OLD LEAVING A VOICEMAIL FOR SANTA. I can say this with certainty because I witnessed Ben leave a message and I laughed and cried at the same time.

3. YouTube videos that prove Santa exists

I love stuff like this. The kids gather ’round the computer and completely lose their minds.

Real Santa Caught on Video

Real Life Rudolph Caught on Camera

4. NORAD Santa Tracker

Every year this site gets better. I can only imagine how much I would have loved it when I was a kid!
