For my birthday this year, Chris t o t a l l y splurged and bought me the high-end Vita-Mix blender I have dreamed about for years. I was shocked – shocked, I tell you! – when I opened the box. Never in a million years did I think we would actually get one. It just seemed so out of reach for us.
My sisters have asked me if the blender is worth the steep price, and I tell them “YES! ABSOLUTELY!” Not only does it puree soups and make quick sorbets, but it has a self cleaning feature that I am officially obsessed with. I use the blender several times a day, and I smile every time.
For the past two weeks, I have prepared a super healthy, all organic green drink that tastes totally delicious. Loaded with veggies and fruit, it is basically a salad in a cup, but it is a real treat for me. Even little Vivian loves it!
Maureen’s Green Drink
1 orange, peeled
1 pear, halved (leave the skin on)
1 carrot
1 celery
1-2 good handfuls of baby spinach
a small piece of fresh ginger, peeled (I use a lot because I love it)
1/2 cup water
2 cups ice
Toss everything into the blender and mix until smooth. I’ve found that the longer I run the machine, the taster the drink!

What a great gift! Which version did you get? I’ve been dreaming of one!
Chris bought me the Professional Series 750. It really is soooo much better than typical blenders.
