We made a batch of this sweet-smelling homemade sugar scrub last weekend to give as Mother’s Day gifts to my mom and Aunt Sheila. The kids loved it so much that we made another batch today. We joke that the scrub makes our hands as soft as a baby’s butt – the kids laugh every time someone says it!
The recipe is so super simple and the ingredients are so harmless that this is a great activity for big kids to do on their own. Evie was quite content to stir everything together, and Mack was very excited to bestow the homemade gifts to his Granmary and Great Aunt.
Coconut-Almond Sugar Scrub
1 cup sugar
1 cup coconut oil
2 tablespoons jojoba oil (optional)
2 tablespoons almond extract
Mix all ingredients in a bowl until very well combined.
Store in an airtight container and leave it in the shower or on the bathroom sink.
To use: apply a dollop onto dry skin and gently massage. Rinse with warm water. Pat dry.

Can I use vanilla extract instead? Nut allergy…
Thank you!
Yes, of course! You could also use an essential oil like lavender.
