Fun With Sidewalk Chalk + School Supply GIVEAWAY!!!

Last month I wrote a post about the ban against my children from using chalk on the sidewalk outside our condo building.  I found the whole thing to be ridiculous and so silly and beyond absurd.  Who could possibly take offense to occasional sidewalk chalk drawings on a public city sidewalk?!

Rose Art, an awesome company that offers products that encourage creativity, caught wind of my story and sweetly sent me a package of super fun sidewalk chalk shaped like ice cream treats.  Now that we are in a new neighborhood surrounded by young families, I felt totally at ease bringing the chalk outside the other night.  Evie and Mack were so happy to share the chalk with their new friends – it was a simple way for us to get to know everyone a little better.

Rose Art also sent along a big box of school supplies.  The kids were beyond excited to go through the goodies – crayons, markers, paints, craft projects.  Evie is particularly excited about the Glitter Makers (what 4 year old girl wouldn’t love that?!) and Mack tried out water color painting for the first time.

GIVEAWAY! Rose Art would like to send a box of school supplies to one lucky Homemade Mothering reader!!  To enter, leave a comment here that answers the question:

My favorite teacher was my 4th grade teacher, Mr. Lewis. He was larger than life, and we did the coolest things in his class-an overnight trip to Grand Coolie Dam, making an amphitheater, and making sand maps of Washington. Probably because of him I’ve been teaching 4th grade for 10 years now!

My favorite teacher was my mom. I never had her in class, but I saw all the work she did to make sure that her 2nd grade class got a great education. Billboards, lesson plans, correcting, planning…..she did that along with raising two kids, keeping the household together and getting her masters. She taught me how to do it all 🙂

My favorite teacher was my 1st ,2nd & 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Messersmith. Since she taught in a Montessori school, she had the same students for 3 years (combined classroom of 1st, 2nd & 3rd graders) and she treated each one of her students like family.

  15. Laura says:

My favorite teacher was in 4th grade teacher, Ms. Simpson. We lived in London at the time, and our school had numerous bomb scares in the late 80’s. Every time she would walk us to her own home to have biscuits in her backyard garden. I am pretty sure no one was ever scared or concerned due to her upbeat and yummy distraction!

Ms. Olga Calendar. Second grade. She truly cared about how well we did and taught us our times tables by giving every student who finished everything up to 10×10 a carvel ice cream sandwich. Such a great person.

I had a lot of great teachers in elementary school, but my favorite teach was Mrs. Bobick in first grade. I was a pretty good drawer for my age, and she would let me and another kid sit in the back of the room and make comic books while everyone else did whatever else 1st graders do. Very supportive though I didn’t end up being an artist!
