We are slowly recovering from a nasty little virus that made its way into our household. It seems like it was worse based on size – Evie had symptoms for a day, I suffered for a day and a half, and Chris is still working through it. Fortunately, little Mack seems to have been spared. As a mother, there is nothing worse than watching my sweet little daughter struggle with a tummy ache. To take her mind off things I gave her a sticker book, which she promptly used to decorate the sofa cushions.
The sickness made its grand debut all over a Pack-n-Play mattress after Evelyn’s Sunday afternoon nap. She doesn’t normally sleep there, but the other day it just looked interesting to her, so I let her take a snooze in it. She woke up and immediately got sick. All. Over. It. Ugggggghhhh.
I had to come up with a Homemade solution to clean the mattress ASAP. I brought the mattress into the shower and hosed it down using the toilet sprayer I use to rinse off cloth diapers. To remove the smell and any excess residue, I wiped it down with a rag and a generous spray of vinegar, dish soap, and warm water (the same solution I use to clean the floors). I let the mattress dry in the tub overnight. Just 24 hours later it was as good as new!
Now, I just need to finish the seven loads of laundry that piled up during the past few days…

I hate being sick. I need to make a disinfectant because I am on the second round of Child #1 being sick.
