A few months ago I mentioned in a post that our blender had broken. A friend of a friend read it and sent me a message: she no longer needed her blender – would I like it? I was so delighted with her offer. Not only would her kind generosity save me a few bucks, but because I’m an eco-freak I was very happy to take a perfectly fine used one. Re-using at its finest!
Much to the delight of 2 year old Mack, the “new” blender has lots of buttons. He’s always happy to help make breakfast smoothies like this one with bananas, spinach and almond. It is so delicious and creamy and healthy. A good way to start the day!
Banana-Spinach-Almond Smoothie
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 banana
2 dates
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (I use homemade vanilla extract)
1 handful spinach
1 scoop raw almond butter
ice
1-2 tablespoons flax meal
Pour almond milk into blender. Add in banana, spinach, dates, vanilla extract and almond butter. Blend until smooth. Add ice and flax meal and blend until ice is crushed. Pour into a glass and enjoy!

So glad Mack likes the buttons! The kids keep getting cuter and bigger!
This looks great. I love it because not only is it Paleo but I usually have all these ingredients on hand on a typical day. I think when I will make mine I will use a frozen banana to make it “cooler.” I always have frozen bananas so I can make my homemade 1 ingredient banana ice cream. The kids love it!
Frozen banana is great in this! Makes it more like a milkshake – yum!!!!!!!
