The Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party at Chicago Children’s Theatre

The Christmas season is upon us. I’m so grateful for this time every year. It is nice to wind down after a busy year with the people we love most. Chris and I make gentle efforts to really enjoy all the hustle and bustle our city has to offer – there certainly is no shortage of things to do!

Last weekend I took Vivian to see The Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Party at the Chicago Children’s Theatre. She is such a sweet and patient girl, and I am grateful for any one-on-one opportunity with her. Of course, she wore a fancy red dress!

The show was so sweet. So charming. So so lovely. The three actors on stage really brought these familiar stories to life in a new and unexpected way. The live music thoughtfully complimented hand-crafted puppets and backdrops, and I found myself smiling and laughing along with Vivian – we both had so much fun!

After the show, the audience was invited on stage to mingle with the actors and try out the classic wooden puppets.

We then gathered in the lobby for hot chocolate and cookies. So much seasonal fun packed into one afternoon!

Time spent at the Chicago Children’s Theatre is always so…uncomplicated. The stories are simple and unfussy, but the creativity and imagination on stage inspire and captivate young and old alike. How nice that even in this world of go, go, GO! we have a quiet space where art is still appreciated and celebrated by our littlest citizens!

If you live in Chicago or are passing through our fine city, please make the time to see The Beatrix Potter Holiday Tea Partyhttp://chicagochildrenstheatre.org/shows/the-beatrix-potter-holiday-tea-party/
