Warm Maple Milk

Chicago can’t seem to make up her mind.  After a brisk October, November has been relatively mild. Some days are close to 60 degrees, while others barely get out of the 30s.

Regardless of the temperature, I like to take the kids outside everyday for some fresh air and exercise.  The other day was downright chilly, so they only lasted about 20 minutes.  When we came in from the cold their cheeks were rosy and their hair smelled like winter.

To warm them up, I wanted to offer something cozy in a cup.  Rather than offering a white sugar-laden (yet delicious!) homemade hot chocolate so close to bedtime, I whipped up a couple mugs of warm milk spiked with pure maple syrup.  A lovely treat on a chilly fall afternoon.

Warm Maple Milk

3 cups whole milk

2-3 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Warm milk on a small saucepan over low heat.  Whisk in maple syrup.  Pour into tea cups and enjoy!
