Sing To Your Baby + GIVEAWAY

My little family really loves music.  My parents gave us an awesome iPod speaker dock for Christmas, and not a day goes by that we don’t use it.  Our tastes range from Jack Johnson to Lady Gaga to the Disney station.  I’ve found that sometimes all it takes are some catchy tunes to settle rambunctious kids.

So, I was really excited to learn about the new book and CD “Sing To Your Baby” by Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer.  It playfully encourages bonding between little babies and the big people who love them, and I can’t help but smile every time we open the book.  The earthy songs are simple and the illustrations are bright and cheerful – a perfect way to introduce a love of music to little Vivian.

Now that I have three kids, I have to make more of an effort to give each one special time every day. Books like this make it easy for my sweet baby girl and me to enjoy some one-on-one time.  This afternoon Evie helped me sing to Vivian.  They both really enjoyed the “Bouncing” song that encouraged us to interact and move together. Watching 8-week old Vivian silently “laugh” for the first time as her big sister and I sang to her is a memory I will forever hold close.

I like to sing one of my favorite Broadway songs to my son when I put him to bed. It’s called “Nothing is too wonderful to be true” from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. A little different perhaps but I love the sweet melody and lyrics.
“Look at the way the moon behaves; look at the way she paints a silver ribbon on the waves, leading directly to me and you, and nothing is too wonderful to be true.”

My mom makes up a special song for each grandchild soon after they are born. I love the way my 2 yr old lights up when I sing her “josie’s song” that her very own nana created…just for josie! Thus, the happiness that this song brings makes it a favorite!

  10. Samantha J says:

    ” I love you , a bushel and a peck , a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”

my little one squeals with delight over it , and she is 4. I cant wait for a couple of weeks when this baby comes into the world so I can sing it over and over with him/her too!!

I have lots of favorite songs! But lately I love any song that my 2-1/2 yo daughter sings along with me now that she’s finally learning the words. Every night since she was a baby I’ve sang to her and it really makes my heart happy when I hear her cute little voice join mine! :o)
