A Grand Hand Gesture

Chris and I met 14 years ago. We started dating 12 years ago. We have been married for nearly 9 years. We are deep in the thick of parenthood, so we sneak in kisses and hugs whenever possible (much to the delight of our kids who loooove to comment on our PDAs). For the most part we are past the point of sweeping romantic displays of adoration and affection (like the long love letters we exchanged while Chris was deployed to Iraq or surprise visits when we lived in different cities).

So, imagine my delight when Chris texted this pic to me the other day:

Anyone who knows Chris knows that this hand gesture is a grand gesture. He is a work-out fanatic, and like me he doesn’t like wearing a ring while at the gym. When he texted me the photo I smiled wide and my heart fluttered. He found a Cross-Fit friendly silicone ring to let the world know his heart is taken. Even when he is dead lifting 475 pounds or completing quarter mile sprints, I am on his mind and in his heart. What a compliment!

le sigh…

Every day I am grateful for Chris. Every day I look at him and think I am the luckiest lady in the whole world. Common conversation makes it seem like marriage is a difficult contract, but my life is easier and more complete thanks to Chris. I love being married!

He loves me.

He really does.

And I love him.

I really do.
