A Good Read

Even though I live in a big city, I strive to make my life as homemade as possible. I believe that avoiding processed junk (food and household products) is a healthier and happier way to live. Recently I stumbled on a great book that is all about going back to the basics — The Self Sufficient Life & How to Live It by John Seymour. Although I don’t live on (or near!) a farm, this book has become an inspiration for the life I hope to someday live. It has also encouraged me to make my life as simple as possible despite the daily stresses that inevitably come my way. I pick it up and read a few pages whenever I need to decompress. In many ways, it has become a meditation for me!

Hope you’ll check it out!

My mom recommended this Barbara Kingsolver book to me a while ago; looks pretty similar in general theme:

We had the Reader's Digest" Back to Basics" book around growing up and I loved it. My sister and I would pour over it and plan the farm we'd have together one day… I can see how that book would be a little dose of meditation for you.
